Too often redevelopment efforts think their job is to fill a bucket (supply), not light a fire (demand).

tumblr fools, I need a way to measure redevelopment of a neighborhood.

any creative ideas on how to quantify a defined spatial area’s infill and redevelopment? loss of vacant land, rise in property values, increases in density—these same like standard units for measuring change. I’m wondering if there might be more interesting measures. maybe the number of coffee houses could produce a hipsterization index. Likely the literature on gentrification is rich with measures, but I’m a ways off from a proper lit review. any thoughts?
