We have a momentous task before us, so let’s tackle it together. Let’s unleash the power of the tumblr designmind.

This is a backflow preventer cage:

They are everywhere. As their super creative name denotes, they protect backflow preventers from vandalism and theft.

They are also, in my humble opinion, perhaps the single ugliest feature of countless properties across the country. They come in variations of earth tones—brown, green, etc.—or occasionally in unpainted steel like this:

These guys need a redesign. There’s a market niche for creatively designed and marketed backflow preventer cages. (No really, I’m not kidding). Got any ideas? I’m thinking of ways to turn them into planters, ways to customize or augment them, panel faces that look like small murals or street art. Whatcha got tumblr?
